Bocuse d'Or is a high-end cooking competition that takes place in front of an audience and is a showcase of the latest, world culinary trends. The competition places great emphasis on creativity, technique, taste and texture. Bocuse d'Or aims to promote and develop young talents at home and abroad, to promote the diversity of culinary heritage and Polish gastronomy as well as to enhance the culinary awareness of chefs.

Paul Bocuse is one of the pioneers of the new French cuisine (nouvelle cuisine), more dietetic than traditional French cuisine cuisine classique), emphasizing the importance of using only fresh produce.
In 1975, at the presidential dinner at the Elysee Palace, one of Bocuse's most famous dishes - Truffle Soup (soupe aux truffes). This dish later became a showcase of Soupe V.G.E. near Lyon (initials V.G.E. refer to President Valery Giscard d'Estaing). But Paul Bocuse's best-known restaurant has remained for many years the l'Auberge du Pont de Collonges, a three-star Michelin star.
